Organization of American States Student Internship Program
The OAS Student Intern Program is designed for junior, senior and graduate students at the university level to allow them to work within their fields of study.
The Program although unpaid is very competitive; in order to be selected, students must have at least a 3.0 GPA, a good command of two of the four official languages of the Organization: English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
Interns are required to attend a mandatory cycle of weekly meetings with senior officials to provide them with a clear insight into overall OAS activities.

PRETOMA (Programa Restauracion de Tortugas Marinas)
San Jose, Costa Rica. Qualified Interns and Volunteers walk the 4km beach on a nightly basis looking for nesting sea turtles. When found, turtles are measured, tagged, and checked for general health conditions. Nests are then taken, monitored, and protected in a project hatchery. Hatchery duties include monitoring for hatching baby turtles and releasing them into the ocean, as well as post hatching nest excavations to determine success rates.
