Teaching English in Ecuador  Teaching English in Ecuador

"The market for English, particularly American English, continues to thrive despite grave economic difficulties in the country. Dozens of language academies and institutes can be found in Quito, the second city Guayaquil, and in the picturesque city and cultural center of Cuenca in the southern Sierra. South America Explorers has posted information on teaching in Ecuador ." — Susan Griffith in Work in Latin America.

TEFL and Teach English in Ecuador
Volunteer on this GVI project and teach English to children in the Andean communities in the mountains surrounding Otavalo, Ecuador. English is becoming increasingly important at both primary and secondary level education, but the majority of schools do not have qualified English teachers. As a volunteer on this important project, you will first take an Introductory TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course in Ecuador in preparation. You will then be placed in a class where you will teach in the mornings and spend the afternoon planning the next day’s lessons. An experienced TEFL teacher will be on hand to assist you with both teaching and planning.
